Before
moving to Bangladesh, Mark worked from Delhi and Kathmandu,
covering events in India, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
From 2001-3 he lived in Kinshasa, reporting
on “Africa's World War” in the Democratic Republic
of Congo.
He began his career in news as a backpacker
in southern Africa in 1996, before getting a job at Reuters.
He later moved to the BBC World Service, and eventually
became a Senior Producer for the news programmes, Focus
on Africa and Network Africa.
His reports have been broadcast across
BBC TV and Radio. His articles have been published by BBC
News Online, The Economist, Reuters, The Sunday Telegraph
(UK), The Sunday Times (South Africa), the Independent (South
Africa) and the Scotsman.
He has written and presented several
radio documentaries for BBC World Service Radio.
